Financial setbacks

Yeah, it happens. Today, I was stuck with a monstrous repair bill of 800 for an air filter and my radiator replacement.
That puts a dent into my savings. This really blows.
This on top of my insurance doubling just because I rolled over a stop sign at 2 AM in the morning in the middle of nowhere and got caught by a cop hiding in the bushes.
So all these financial setbacks really gouged me lately.
More than that, it really tested my resolve to keep doing art for a living.
I like what I do but man... it's tough as all hell.

Tomorrow is another day.

  1. Why did you pay the ticket? You could have gone with either traffic school, or deferred adjudication. Both would keep it off your record and insurance down.

  2. Yeah, that's what I thought. However, this is like a voter ID issue. The reason I did not do that is because both of those take up a day or half a day out of one's regular schedule. It would set back my work that much which has a cumulative effect on the schedule overall. Working stiffs like me do get shafted by this kind of system. :(

  3. Actually deferred adjudication doesn't take any more time than paying the fine. You walk in, ask the judge for it, if they grant it they'll tell you the fine (which is usually the same or less than the cost of the ticket), you pay it, be a good boy for 90 days (avoid getting another ticket in that time), and the ticket drops off your record within that local county.

  4. Dang. I guess I should have done that. If I knew it won't take long, I should have done... oh wait, I did not have Great White then... :) I was carless at the time! That's probably why I did not go downtown... Ah well...
